A Rustic Peak District Wedding
Some of my favourite weddings (as a guest, as well as a photographer) are those that feel effortless- even though we all know they require meticulous planning and attention to detail. Take Murray & Jo's day for example. They planned a wedding filled with love in every aspect of the word. It was charming, modest and rustic and boy was it super cool.
Little Longstone Chapel is the wedding chapel of quaint English country dreams. Nestled in Bakewell, the heart of the Peak District it seats an unassuming 50. Surrounded by nothing but rolling fields of green, grazing cattle and bales of hay it is straight off of a Rustic Wedding Pinterest page. On their day the chapel’s entrance itself was framed with a stunning pastel flower arch and matching bouquets to shape the aisle.
The ceremony was beautiful and everything a ceremony should be- two people saying their vows, whilst everybody else looked on in awe at their happiness. There was a heart warming reading and their two friends played guitar and sang as they walked back up the aisle as husband and wife. Such a wonderful personal touch.
After the ceremony and a colourful confetti shot, I followed Murray & Jo’s wedding car through the Derbyshire Hills for 20 minutes before we pulled over for a quick photo shoot.
With the Peak District as a backdrop there’s a photo opportunity at every turn. Jo’s veil blowing in the wind coupled with clear blue skies and a Bride and Groom clearly in love, we created some super romantic images.
The Village Hall in Hathersage looked picture perfect with reams of bunting, handmade centrepieces, flowers and antique lace adorning the tables which were set in rows for a classic Village Fete feel.
After the wedding breakfast and cake cutting the happy couple took centre stage for their first dance to Fleetwood Mac- ‘I Wanna be with You Everywhere’, a song fit only for super cool couples- effortlessly in love.
